What is the bedNest?

The BedNest is for mothers and their new babies

In an article in the Daily Express, September 14th 2005, Maisha Frost wrote:

"The BedNest marks a breakthrough in cot design. It allows mother and baby, for the first time, to sleep safely within touching distance alongside each other."

The BedNest is a small, sturdy bedside baby crib, securely attached to the parent's bed. With height adjustable legs and a removable side it becomes a small extension to the bed, allowing the newborn baby to be close to parents throughout the night and whenever they are able to rest together during the day.

When you go to bed, the near side of the BedNest is removed giving you immediate access to your baby yet allowing your baby its own safe space. When the side is back in place, the BedNest can be used as a stable, free-standing baby crib.

  • The lightweight plastic moulded baby crib fits within a folding metal frame.
  • It is simple to erect and folds flat, making it ideal for storage and transport.
  • The plastic tray which fits into the frame below the baby crib provides storage space.
  • The sturdiness and ease of cleaning of the BedNest also make it suitable for loan or hire and for use in maternity hospitals and clinics.
  • It is securely attached to the parent's bed making a continuous sleeping surface with no gaps between the crib and the bed.
  • The BedNest complies with the British Standard BSEN 1130-1:1997 and 2:1996 for 4-sided cribs.
  • Patent pending.

Measurements and Weights of the BedNest Bedside Baby Crib

Internal dimensions 740mm x 385mm.

The twelve height positions on the frame allow the crib to be used with an adult bed mattress the top of which is between 400mm and 690mm from the floor.

  • With 50mm castors, these heights increase to 470mm and 760mm.
  • With 80mm castors, these heights increase to 510mm and 800mm.
The protruding feet are necessary to give stability. The feet fit beneath the adult bed therefore allowing the crib to make secure contact with the bed.

Feet / Castor Choices

In order for the BedNest to line up right against the bed, it is necessary for the feet to be able to slide under the bed. This requires a 20mm clearance under the bed.

Castors for hospital/maternity unit use
If you would like castor wheels with brakes for a BedNest for use in a hospital/maternity unit, the clearance required under the bed will be 120mm.

Castors for Fun
